The Woolgatherers will be performing Nobody’s Perfect, a comedy by Simon Williams (of Upstairs Downstairs fame), at The Little Theatre, Birkenhead on May 25th, 26th and 27th 2023
AUDITIONS – completed!
Set in London around the millennium, this quick witted comedy tells the tale of a despairing would be author who resorts to inventing a female alter ego in his attempt to succeed. He is beset with challenges as he copes with his lascivious father and the woes of being a single dad.
Leonard: Middle age 40 – 55ish
Leonard is a bashful statistician and unsuccessful would be writer.. Using his own experience as an unwilling house husband/father he submits an novel using the pseudonym of Lulabelle Latiffa. The story unfolds as he is forced to take on yet another role as his adventurous and worldly wise alter ego.
Harriet: 35 – 55ish
Highly successful as editor of her own feminist publishing house, Harriet is worn down by the failures in her relationships and tired of men! She is enthralled by the imagination and go getting attitude of a new author and is determined to get to know her better.
Gus: (Grampi) 60 – 80 ish
Young at heart, growing old disgracefully is Gus’s approached to his twilight (shoot for the stars) years. He is determined to enjoy every moment of what life has left to offer, despite a lack of funds and rather temporary accommodation. He is deeply devoted to his son and granddaughter and will do whatever it takes to bring some joi de vivre into their world.
Dee Dee: 18 – early/mid 20s
Ready to set off on her own life adventures, Dee Dee is kind, loving and just a little cheeky. The centre of her fathers and grandfathers worlds she is often caught in the middle of their opposing personalities. When faced with the worrying change in her fathers behaviour, Dee Dee is quick to find a way to help out with plenty of humour and quick thinking.
Rehearsals – Monday and Thursday
Rehearsals take place at The Woolshack and usually start at 7.30pm.

The Woolgatherers meeting place – The Woolshack, 10 Chester Road, Heswall, Wirral, CH60 1XG (the address and post code are approximate).
Get to the Gayton roundabout, turn down Brimstage road, (A5137). you will see Gayton Day Nursery on the right and also a sign saying Gayton playing fields, Heswall FC and Heswall Squash club – go down the lane towards the playing fields, the track bends to the right then left by the Football Club, carry on a few yards and The Woolshack is the small building on the left in front of the childrens play park. You’ll see our name by the front door. Or if you park at the far back of the Glegg Arms there is a cut through to the park.
